CNN: Discovery roared into the blue skies over Florida this morning, marking the first shuttle flight since the 2003 Columbia disaster. The shuttle blasted off as scheduled at 10:39 a.m. ET, following days of troubleshooting to fix a faulty fuel sensor in its external tank. Discovery is scheduled for a 12 day mission to test new shuttle safety features and to deliver supplies to the international space station.

Irony?
I find it quite ironic that a shuttle that has been delayed so many times and eventually launches with sensor problems is on a mission to test "new shuttle safety features." 0_oJuly 26 2005, 18:04:42 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Irony?
That is EXACTLY what i was thinking. That and . . ..sicne this is the first mission since the columbia crash . .why would they even attempt it with a sensor malfunction... dosn't make much sence to me.

Re: Irony?
